Armenia Digital Nomad Visa

Armenia offers a unique opportunity for digital nomads through a residence permit, often referred to as the Armenia digital nomad visa, this is a renewable 1-year temporary visa. After living in Armenia for 3 years, you may also apply for Armenian citizenship.

Requirements

To be eligible for the Armenia digital nomad visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Valid Passport: You must have a valid passport at the time of applying.
  2. Work Remotely: You must work as a freelancer or business owner.
  3. Willing to Open a Business in Armenia: You must be willing to register as a sole proprietor or “Private Entrepreneur” in Armenia.
  4. Medical Check Certificate: You need to have a medical check certificate.

Please note that there is no requirement to provide bank statements or meet a minimum income requirement1. You can apply for the Armenia digital nomad visa both inside the country or remotely.

Application process

The application process for the Armenia digital nomad visa is quite straightforward and can be done both inside the country or remotely. Here are the steps:

  1. Register as a Sole Proprietor: The first thing you must do is to register as a sole proprietor and obtain an Armenian tax ID. You will have to submit the following documents to the State Register of Legal Entities in Armenia:
    • Completed Application
    • Original passport
    • Passport-size photos (35x45mm)
    • Copy of passport (translated to Armenian and apostilled)
    • Medical certificate
    • Proof of Business Ownership in Armenia
  2. Apply for Residence Permit: After registering as a sole proprietor, the next step is to apply for the residence permit.
  3. Wait for Approval: Once you’ve submitted all the necessary documents and completed the application, the final step is to wait for the approval.
  4. Pay all application fees:
    • The fee for the temporary residence permit is 105,000 AMD or approximately $264 USD.
    • The fee for the permanent residence permit is 140,000 AMD or approximately $354 USD.

  • Personal Income Tax: Armenia has a progressive personal income tax system, with rates ranging from 23% to 36%.
